The mild weather continues. Yesterday I had another Pale Brindled Beauty in the trap and this morning there were 3 Common Quakers and the first micro of the year: Tortricoides alternella.

Things must be looking up. Despite another fairly cold night with a min. of 4C, the 1st Common Quaker of the year appeared this morning.

With a low of 3C last night I wasn't expecting anything in the trap this morning, but was pleased to find the first Hebrew Character of the year. Not the earliest garden record but much earlier than last year when I trapped the first one on 15th March.

 It looked like being a mild last night so I put the trap out and was rewarded with a Chestnut  and a Pale Brindled Beauty. The latter was only the 5th one I've recorded in the garden in 15 years, and it's the first for 4 years.

Not much to report lately, mainly due to the weather of course. However, a fine morning so I went  down to Reculver to have a look for the Snow Buntings reported there recently. I walked all the way the Coldharbour Lagoon and halfway back before I found a couple photographing one. It seemed to be on its own.

Yes, after a completely blank January, at last managed to catch something this morning-a Dark Chestnut.
